I Test God

There’s only one place in the Bible where God invites us to test him, and that’s in Malachi 3:10:
“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!”

God spoke through the prophet Malachi:
The golden rule to wealth & tremendous blessing = the tithe
If you sow into a ministry, when they spread the gospel, you spread the gospel too. When they testify about Jesus, you testify about Jesus too.
But for all the verses we read on giving, God telling us what he will do if we tithe… it’s tough giving away 10 percent of your income.
- Coming up with who to tithe to is tough.
- Logging into your bank account to make the payment is tough.
- And hitting ‘confirm payment’ is tough!
But…
You have a promise—a vow—that if you do what God says, you won’t “have room enough to handle” the blessing he pours out.

According to Dr. Bill Winston, two laws are working simultaneously in the world today:
#1 The law of the spirit of life, and
#2 The spirits of sin and death.
If you don’t know Jesus, you’re limited to the laws of this earth.
But when you know Jesus…
You can operate by a different set of laws.
There’s a divine connection between how much you help others and how much God blesses you.
For example, you can recession-proof and secure your income when you give into God’s kingdom. And when you pray in the Holy Spirit, everything you do will be backed by a no-fail God.
Are God’s promises just words on a page to you? Or do you really believe them?
This is what happens when you give to God:
The tithe:
REBUKES the devourer
Isaac sowed during a drought and reaped a hundredfold in the same year. The tithe is a nod to God that you can’t do life alone, and you weren’t meant to. What God did for Isaac, he’ll do for you. You have an ironclad guarantee God will bless you when you give into his kingdom.
PROTECTS your income
So if you lose your job as a tither, it’s only because God has something bigger and better for you, with double the salary. God invites us to test him in only one place in the bible. Such bold claims should have all your attention.
MAKES you rich
The Bible uses the word “maaser” (מַעֲשֵׂר) when it speaks about the tithe. When we take away the first letter (מ), we’re left with עֲשֵׂר, “aser”, which means “rich.” When you tithe, you’ll become rich. Whoa!
BRINGS blessings money can’t buy
You may be faced with an impossible situation. Or you may be praying for new friendships or to have a baby. When you tithe, you’ll overflow with blessings, not just money. Payback for giving comes in forms other than fiances.
Clarify your needs and heart’s desires by asking yourself 4 important questions:
What problems do I have that only God can solve?
You need to know where you end and God begins. And then you need to come to the end of yourself, quickly. Money cannot fix a painful past or loneliness. Just as $300 dollars in your bank account cannot get you a job or heal a broken relationship. Imagine what it might mean for you if God is telling the truth in Malachi 3:10. He knows how to bless you.
What areas in my life are empty?
Impossible situations are God’s specialty. Moses was known for the miracles God performed through him. And none of the miracles could be explained by natural laws. You want everything God has for you. And money is the least of the blessings in this world.
What are the solutions being offered for the lack in my life?
God tells us what we need to do to be blessed. People read Malachi 3:10 and say “amen” when they hear about the importance of tithing, yet they don’t give to the church that feeds them spiritually. Don’t wait until you’ve exhausted the natural solutions to financial lack, like working two jobs, before you give into God’s kingdom.
What actions do I need to take to get God to move?
Have you hit a wall financially? Are the bills never paid off? Giving to God shows you trust him.
